WebWhile at Fordham and Rutgers he was instrumental in the establishment of a Phi Beta Gamma chapter at each institution. On the 20th anniversary of his appointment to the Fordham Classics faculty he was awarded the Bene Merenti Medal for distinguished service. In all he served for 29 years at the University.
