Culligan water softener leaking from top
WebJan 7, 2010 · I have a Culligan Medallist Series 30 or 45, I'm not to sure. It's leaking water and emptying in the drain behind the washer. It's either a piston or valve or both. Is this a DIY job or should I take out a small loan and call Culligan. I'd really like to tackle the problem myself. I've researched this and found that parts may be hard to come by. Check the liquid level in your tank in the round brine well (about 4 inch diameter with a little lid on it). If the level is too high, that indicates the float valve is not working.

Water goes out through the elbow, through PVC, and drains into the same downspout pipe the washer next to it uses. I can hear the water drip inside the downspout.
